Tuesday, September 3

Oh my goodness... We began the day better with not talking but ended on yet another sour note. Some seats are going to change and a few kiddos won't be very happy but we will not get to enjoy our learning and live up to our mission if not. I'm also going to be sending some Behavior Reflections home as well. Our one and only rule is that every student shall be safe and able to learn and if students are talking while I'm teaching or while someone is asking a question or sharing, this is keeping learning from happening.
Today, we began our Rubik's Cube Challenge! We are going to practice listening, following directions, mathematical practices, problem solving, perseverance, etc. while completing the challenge. We learned the vocabulary and got to know the cube today. Most students brought them home to practice the lingo and turns of the challenge. Friday, we will be solving the White Cross challenge. This is the first step in solving the whole cube! In Math, we reviewed the concepts we learned last week by completing different learning tasks or games. We got to know Via, Auggie's sister, more in Wonder. She sure is tough! We started to get into the Reader's Workshop framework by doing some rotation and work board work. Students silently and independently read, worked on their Important Paragraph on Google Apps and played Vocabulary Rock n Roll. Then, for Writer's Workshop, we read blogs to see samples of what blogging looks like. Then, each student set up their own blogs! Feel free to log on and peruse but we will be writing our first blog tomorrow so there probably won't be much today... You can access our individual blogs at kidblog.org/Lambright13-14 . With all the chatting, we didn't get to Word Study today so we're a little behind. Hopefully, we'll find some extra time tomorrow to get caught up!
